There are some foods that transcend average, everyday fare. Taste, of course, is vital. But comfort foods move beyond taste; they give a sense of fulfillment and security. If a list of such foods were made, I think apple crisp would rate near the top.
Hot and fresh, served with a dollop of cream -- a simple food, but one that satisfies my inner craving for simplicity. The blend of cinnamon and nutmeg (assisted by a generous portion of brown sugar) transforms ordinary apples into pure, melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. How do I know? Well, I had to eat it after I took the picture, didn't I?
