The Determined Daffodil

One of my favorite times of year is when the daffodils bloom. I don't know why I love daffodils so much, but their sunny faces always make my heart skip a beat! Here's one of the beauties blooming in our garden:

An average daffodil, right? We moved our daffodils from the back garden to the front a few years ago. Since then, the hawthorne bushes that we planted in their place have flourished. But this overlooked daffodil bulb was apparently determined to bloom, even if it meant growing a three-foot stem to reach the sun and the clear air. The only thing holding up that stem is the hawthorne bush. Now that's determination. I wish I could say I was that resilient and determined under trying circumstances!

  3. Hi,
I've been perusing your blog since I found it on http://www.romantichistory.blogspot.com/ .
I really like your style and share a lot of the same interests. I admire your patience in waiting for the right man to come along. Just make sure that when someone does come you pay attention to what his life reveals not just his words.
Anyway, I love daffodils too! I think it is because they are a promise of spring. That is a pretty photograph!

  4. Sommer, maybe that's why I like daffodils -- they're like concentrated sunshine! ;-)

Emily, I hope your Spring flowers come soon!

Leah, it's so nice to "meet" you! ;-) It's always so wonderful to find another kindred spirit! And thank you for the words of wisdom -- That is advice that I will certainly try to follow!

    Yours in Christ,
    Shannon

  5. I didn't know daffodils could survive down south. Daffodils abound up here in Moscow in the spring (it's not spring yet, but I've already seen a snowdrop or two!), and I've fallen in love with them. The tulips are stunning as well.
