A Speechless Year

What a year 2010 has been! I can safely say that the past twelve months have brought more change than any other year in my (admittedly brief) life.

From marrying my wonderful husband...

... to buying our first home.

From expecting our first baby...

... to welcoming him into the world.

Yes, what a year -- the start of a new decade in history. A year of many firsts, and a year of innumerable joys. It has had its share of challenges, heartaches, and struggles -- but God has been so gracious to us, proving over and over again that He is in control, and that He cares about even our most minor hurts and grievances. It is His love that leaves me speechless this year (though not quite wordless, since I'm managing to write a blog post about it!).

I wonder what 2011 will bring, what happiness and grief it has in store. But I know that whatever comes, it is the Almighty God who has ordained it, and that knowledge should strip away any fear about what the future might hold! I pray that it may be said of us, "This is the generation of them that seek Him, that seek Thy face, O Jacob." (Psalm 24:6)

So to bring in the new year with hope and joy, I draw from the 24th Psalm -- which I consider one of the most jubilant, uplifting passages in the Bible:

Lift up your heads, O ye gates;
and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors;
and the King of glory shall come in.

Who is this King of glory?
The LORD strong and mighty,
the LORD mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, O ye gates;
even lift them up, ye everlasting doors;
and the King of glory shall come in.

Who is this King of glory?
The LORD of hosts,
He is the
King of Glory.

Selah.

~ Psalm 24:7-10 ~
