Coming Soon: A Craft Room Link-up!

I've recently undertaken a "final" overhaul of my crafting space, and I'm excited to share it with you! And then I thought, why not invite my readers to participate, too? I get my best ideas by seeing what other creative people have done, so why not start a little "mutual inspiration society?"

With that in mind, I'll be hosting a craft room link-up starting next Monday (October 21st).

Update: The Link-ups are ready! You can scroll to the bottom to find links to the individual posts!

I'm announcing this a week ahead of time so that those of you who want to participate have time to tidy up (if you're like me *wink*) and snap a few photos and add them to your blog/flikr/etc. But there's no "time limit" on the link up, so don't worry if you want to particpate but can't get pictures up by Monday. If you've posted pictures of your craft space in the past, your work is already done!

Okay, so here's the skinny:

What it Is:
  • An opportunity to share the space(s) where you create -- whether you sew, scrapbook, knit, paint, etc.
  • A chance to share your great ideas for everything from craft room decor to notions storage.
  • A way to get good ideas from other crafters!
  • A look at real, "normal" crafting spaces (whether you have a tiny cupboard or an entire room).
What it Isn't:
  • A competition to see who has the trendiest creative space or the most cool stuff. We're all working with what we've got, and "what we've got" is usually a limited budget. *wink*

Oh, and I use the word "craft room" loosely. Many or most of us -- myself included -- don't have luxury sewing studios with hardwood floors and chandeliers (though if you do, that's great -- and I want to see it!), so don't feel like you need a large (or immaculate) space in order to participate. Maybe your sewing space is a machine on a folding table with a few plastic tubs of fabric. Or maybe you lay out all your scrapbook supplies on the dining room table. I know my craft room isn't going to end up on Pinterest any time soon, and that's okay. I don't need an impressive space; just a place where I can get my crafty juices flowing! In fact, the whole point is to see where "the rest of us" create.

Throughout next week (October 21st - October 25th), I'll be putting up a few posts about other craft room related topics (with link ups), in case you'd rather share just a glimpse of your space. And those of you who don't participate in the link-ups can still share your great ideas in the comments of those posts!

Feel free to take a button (and the image above is up for grabs, too). The buttons will link back to this post, which will have links to all of the Creative Space posts:

  2. Are tiny NYC apartments admissible? I do all my crafting on the couch. And by couch, I mean loveseat, because the apartment isn't actually big enough for a proper couch!

I *always* need some motivation to tidy up my space. Visits from my inlaws usually do the trick. :-)

  6. I am in the cleaning out stages. Clearing out Junk that has been stored for over ten years in my dad's old office. Once old computer manuals and old business records are cleared out I can use the room for sewing and crafts.
We live next door to my parrents. The office is located in a 1972 mobile home complete with green shag carpet and all, in their back yard next to the Welding Shop. ( Nothing fancy here!)
My Creative space will never be fancy but it will all be in one room, rather than scattered all over my house. All my fabric will be stored in there rather than in plastic tubs in the Shed.
It may take mee weeks to clean out but I cant wait to see everyones spaces. Maybe I will get some good inspiration.
I will post before and after photos on my blog. www.garnergirl-Loree.blogspot.com

    1. Loree,

Congrats on your upcoming craft space! Having everything together will be a real bonus (green shag carpet or not :-). It sounds like it will be well worth the effort of clearing it out! Good luck with your creative space, and I look forward to seeing it when it's complete!

      Blessings,
      Shannon
