In Stitches -- Lots of stitches!

It's finished! After many hours of stitching, several breaks, and a final sprint, my little baby quilt is finally finished. It's my first real quilting project, and I'm very glad to have it done!

Just for kicks and giggles, I decided to calculate the number of inches that I stithced for this tiny quilt -- 901 inches, which is 75 feet and 1 inch! And that's for a quilt that's only 31" wide.

I'm thinking this may end up as a wall hanging in a (hopeful!) future nursery -- it's rather small to use, and I hate the idea of it wearing out after all of that work! *wink* Perhaps I should explore machine quilting...

  2. It is beautiful! What about a bassinet quilt? That way you can use it on their fresh newborn little selves, but it will only be for a few short months. My mom used the same one for all of (8) of us, over the span of 20 years and it has held up beautifully. And that size, I think you will find, works perfectly until they are about two. My sister in law likes making her baby quilts about 34" square. Again, this is SO cute!!! You did an amazing job! What's next, a big quilt, or your Dress? :)

  3. It is SO pretty! I agree with Tilly--using it for the first few months, before baby is mobile, will keep it nice and together. ;)

  8. My baby boy has a few blankets in this size and I find they have been perfect for him in his infancy (he is almost 5 months now). I agree with the bassinet idea. Larger blankets are just too bulky and have a greater chance of bunching up or smothering the baby. Smaller ones like this are absolutely perfect. You did a beautiful job. I LOVE the colors and the design! Great job!

    Love in Christ,
